01What is KIIP?

KIIP (한국사회통합프로그램) is a government-run program that teaches Korean language and culture to immigrants. Completing it can help with visa changes, permanent residency, and citizenship.

02How many levels are there?

KIIP runs across 6 levels, from the alphabet up to understanding Korean society:

  • Level 0 — Hangul, the Korean alphabet
  • Level 1 — Beginner
  • Level 2 — Advanced Beginner
  • Level 3 — Intermediate

Level 5 is split into two courses, 기본 (basic) and 심화 (advanced). The 심화 course is the one required for Korean citizenship.
